How to Set Up a Mailchimp Account

Step-by-step guide to setting up Mailchimp. Create your account, configure your audience, and send your first email campaign.

How to Set Up a Mailchimp Account

1

Sign up for Mailchimp

Go to mailchimp.com and click 'Sign Up Free'. Create your account with email, username, and password. Verify your email address and complete the onboarding questionnaire.

2

Set up your audience

Mailchimp creates a default audience (list). Go to Audience → Settings to configure your from name, from email, and physical mailing address (required by CAN-SPAM law).

3

Import subscribers

Go to Audience → Add Contacts → Import. Upload a CSV file with subscriber data. Map columns to Mailchimp fields (email, first name, last name, etc.). You must have permission to email everyone you import.

4

Set up email authentication

Go to Settings → Domains and verify your sending domain. Add DKIM and SPF records to your DNS for better deliverability. This ensures emails come from your domain, not Mailchimp's.
