How to Create an Email Campaign in Mailchimp

1

Start a new campaign

Go to Campaigns → Create Campaign → Email → Regular. Name your campaign (internal reference only — subscribers don't see this).

2

Choose recipients

Select your audience or a specific segment. For targeted campaigns, use pre-built segments (active subscribers, new signups) or create custom segments based on tags, location, or behavior.

3

Design the email

Choose a template or start from scratch. Use the drag-and-drop editor to add content blocks: text, images, buttons, dividers, social links, and product listings. Add merge tags like *|FNAME|* for personalization.

4

Preview, test, and send

Click 'Preview and Test' to check desktop and mobile rendering. Send a test email to yourself. Set up A/B testing if desired (subject line or content variants). Schedule or send immediately.

Pro tips

  • *

Keep subject lines under 50 characters for better mobile display

  • *

Always include a clear call-to-action (CTA) button — not just a text link

  • *

Send test emails to Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail to check rendering across clients
