How to Use and Customize Canva Templates
Find the right template
Search by design type ('Instagram post'), topic ('marketing'), or style ('minimalist'). Filter by color, style, and whether it's free or Pro. Browse through results — hover to preview animations.
Customize the template
Click a template to open it in the editor. Replace placeholder text, swap images (drag from uploads or stock library), and adjust colors. Click any element to modify its properties.
Apply your brand
Click 'Apply brand' (or use your Brand Kit palette) to instantly update the template's colors and fonts to match your brand. This transforms any template into on-brand content.
Save as your own template
After customizing, click 'Share' → 'Template link' to save it as a reusable template for your team. Team members can create new designs from your branded template without modifying the original.
