How to Track Rankings in Semrush

1

Set up Position Tracking

Go to your project and open Position Tracking. Click 'Set up tracking' and choose your target search engine (Google), device (desktop and/or mobile), and location (country, state, or city).

2

Add your keywords

Import keywords from your keyword research, paste a list, or let Semrush suggest keywords based on your current rankings. Add keywords in batches organized by topic or page.

3

Add competitor domains

Add 3-5 competitor domains to track alongside your own rankings. Semrush shows side-by-side ranking comparisons so you can see who's gaining or losing positions.

4

Configure alerts

Set up email alerts for significant ranking changes — e.g., notify when any keyword drops out of the top 10 or enters the top 3. Choose daily or weekly digest format.
