How to Set Up Position Tracking in Semrush

1

Create or select a project

Go to Projects and create a new project for your domain, or open an existing one. Each project can have one Position Tracking campaign.

2

Configure targeting

Select your target location (as specific as ZIP code for local businesses), device type (desktop, mobile, or both), and search engine (Google, Bing). Location precision matters — track where your actual customers search.

3

Import keywords

Add keywords to track. You can import from Semrush tools (Keyword Magic, Organic Research), upload a CSV, or paste a list. Organize with tags: 'brand', 'product', 'blog', 'competitor terms'.

4

Set up notifications and sharing

Configure weekly email reports and instant alerts for position changes. Share the tracking dashboard with team members or clients via a shareable link (no Semrush login required).
