How to Use Ahrefs Content Explorer

Find top-performing content with Ahrefs Content Explorer. Discover viral articles, link magnets, and trending topics in any niche.

How to Use Ahrefs Content Explorer

1

Search for a topic

Open Content Explorer and enter a topic keyword. Choose the search mode: 'In title' (most focused), 'In content' (broadest), or 'Everywhere' (title + content + URL).

2

Filter results

Filter by language, publish date (last 12 months for trending content), word count, and Domain Rating. Remove results from forums and low-quality sites by setting a minimum DR.

3

Analyze top performers

Sort by 'Referring domains' to find the most link-worthy content, or by 'Organic traffic' to find content that ranks well. Click any result to see its full backlink profile and keyword rankings.

4

Extract insights for your strategy

Identify patterns: What headlines work? What content length performs best? Which angles attract links? Use these insights to create content that can compete with top performers.

Pro tips

  • *

Use the 'One article per domain' toggle to see diverse results instead of multiple pages from the same site

  • *

The 'Broken' filter is gold for link building — find dead pages with backlinks and create replacement content

  • *

Export results and cross-reference with your keyword research to find topics that are both linkable AND searchable
