How to Track Rankings in Ahrefs

1

Add keywords to Rank Tracker

In your project, go to Rank Tracker and click 'Add keywords'. Paste your target keywords or import from Keywords Explorer. Set the tracking country and city (for local SEO).

2

Configure tracking settings

Choose device type: desktop, mobile, or both. Set the search engine (Google is default). Add competitor domains to track alongside your own rankings.

3

Review the dashboard

The overview shows your visibility score, average position, and traffic estimate for tracked keywords. The graph displays trends over time. Click into individual keywords for detailed position history.

4

Set up alerts

Configure email alerts for ranking changes — e.g., notify when a keyword drops below position 10 or enters the top 3. Choose daily or weekly digest format.
